Esk Rover Crew

Home Point Parade, Launceston

Founded in 2010, the Esk Rover Crew (formerly Tamar) has the title of youngest Rover Crew in Tasmania. Having being only one rover crew in the Launceston and North East for many years, Esk Rover Crew was formed by a group of ex 1st Tamar Venturers who wanted to give young adults a choice in rover crews to join. The Esk Tamar Rover Crew is also one of only two crews in Tasmania to be linked to a parent Scout Group, this being the 1st Tamar Sea Scout Group.

Although we are proud of our strong link with the 1st Tamar Sea Scout’s, during the forming of the crew, the 1st was dropped from the name to give it the image and feel of a truly regional rover crew. The crew is formed of past 1st Tamar Venturers, Section Leaders, former Venturers from other units from the region and others who are new to the Scouting movement. We take pride in offering a service to the group and the district by regularly participating in meeting nights and events with other sections of the 1st Tamar Sea Scouts and other groups in the area, fundraising for scouting and non-scouting events and other events whether it may be a day activity or weekend camp.

Being part of the 1st Tamar Sea Scout Group, we have access to the group hall based at the joining points of the North Esk, South Esk and Tamar Rivers with boats, water safety gear, sporting equipment, camping gear and meeting room with stunning views of the three rivers which also doubles as our den.

When we are doing an activity by ourselves, our favourite pastimes include Four Wheel Driving Bushwalking Camping Cooking For anybody wishing to come along to check us out, we meet on a Wednesday night from 7pm at the 1st Tamar Sea Scout Hall at the end of Home Point Parade in the city of Launceston.
